My girlfriend and I were looking at variations on Hummus receipes to
experiment with. After doing a search online we didn't get too many
so here is a post on a base of making yummy easy and fast hummus that
you can get creative with and not pay the high prices at the store.
Basic Hummus
Use the following ingredients:
1 can of chickpeas or garbanzo beans
2-3 tablespoons of tahini (tahina)
2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
1 clove of garlic (minced)
a little olive oil
salt to taste.
Drain chickpeas (keeping some of the water in the can), rinse, add
other ingredients into blender or food processor. Blend until smooth
and creamy...
Then you can start experimenting with other variations- use other
ingredients such as:
Pesto
lemon pepper
roasted peppers
paprika
The more traditional and longer (but more healthy way) to make hummus
is with dried chickpeas (not canned)
